World Time reference 5330G-001
Launched as a limited edition at the Patek Philippe “Watch Art” grand exhibition in Tokyo in 2023, Reference 5330 joins the regular collection. This new-generation World Time model is distinguished by a patented world-first: a date display that is synchronised with local time, i.e. that of the time zone selected at 12 o’clock on the city disc and shown by the central hands. This useful function required development of a new movement, Calibre 240 HU C with automatic winding. A patented differential system manages the date function, which is indicated by the red tip of a transparent glass hand, a first at Patek Philippe, on the sloping peripheral date ring. A red dot between Auckland and Midway on the city disc marks the International Date Line. The centre of the blue-grey opaline dial is decorated with a "carbon" pattern, while the 24-hour disc is subdivided into day and night zones, identified by a sun on a silvered background and a crescent moon on a blue-grey ground. An ingenious mechanism, patented in 1999, enables the wearer to simultaneously adjust World Time indications, including the date, in increments of one hour, simply by pressing the pusher at 10 o'clock. The 40mm case in polished white gold is paired with a blue-grey calfskin strap with a denim pattern.
