Zagato Lab One Concept
The origins of the Zagato Lab One Concept, a 42mm watch in ceramicised titanium, lie with Chopard’s passion for motor racing and its love of innovation. Weighing just 43.2 grams including the strap (36.5 grams without), it is the lightest titanium watch Chopard has ever made. This third collaboration between the watchmaker and Zagato design studio, after the Mille Miglia Lab One in 2020, delivers a concept watch that reprises the tubular architecture of a racing-car chassis, designed to optimise rigidity while cutting back weight. Replacing traditional lugs, pivoting tubular loops ensure a perfect fit. An evolution of the Engine One Tourbillon calibre from 2010, the L.U.C 04.04-L movement in ceramicised titanium is chronometer-certified by the COSC and fitted with a silent-block shock-absorber system. Small seconds are given on the aluminium cage of the one-minute tourbillon, with Variner® balance and a balance spring with a Phillips terminal curve. A “fuel gauge” power reserve at 12 o’clock reinforces the automotive theme. Produced in a limited edition of 19 pieces.
