Nolan Daniel White is a content creator, writer, and creative consultant based in Montreal, Canada. He has cultivated a community around his love of fashion, watches, interior design and care-crafted goods. We asked Nolan to give us some references or tips that characterize his world, collecting journey and inspirations. Here is what he came up with:

I like riding the line between obscurity and familiarity - instead of a regular Datejust I bought a Turn-o-Graph, a Tortue instead of a Tank. I want something that sparks more questions than answers.

Whether it’s clothing, furniture, watches, jewelry, you can’t beat used goods. There’s so much value and so many hidden gems; any new goods putting up a fight are often out of my price range.

Use it like it was meant to be used. I’m a firm believer of looking after your belongings, but maintaining requires using - too people are too precious with their things. Scuffs and scars are stories, not stains.

Onto stories, I think they are the single most important thing in the enjoyment of collecting. An otherwise boring piece can be filled with life once contextualized. It’s our job to look after these stories, and add on with our own.

Don’t be afraid to mess about. I’ve collected and tinkered with timepieces since I was 11 (over a decade). I’ve made great buys, terrible buys, and botched repairs; all of which molded my personal taste today. It’s a painful, iterative process.
