Scroll through his account and you’ll quickly realize that Elias Marte is not your usual watch collector. From cloth to jewelry to watches, Elias is a collector in the true sense of the word. He hunts not-so-common pieces that perfectly match his vintage-inspired lifestyle. We’ve asked Elias to give us references characterizing his universe, collecting journey and inspirations, here is what he came up with:

While I’m a watch enthusiast my love for jewelry is bigger and comes first, watches are an extension of that. I also have "Big New York Energy".

One of my favorite artists is Salvador Dali. I have a few melting watch posters in my apartment along with a few Dali watches.

I collect mainly non-round watch cases in Gold of course. The funkier the case the better. In kindergarten they teach you all these shapes, why must we stick to only a round shape for watches? Also, I prefer vintage to new. The youngest watch in that tray is a Reverso from 2000.

Watches, jewelry, rugs and ceramics are a few things I’m passionate about. When I have time I’m either educating myself by reading a book or looking at old ads. Old advertisements are a great way to educate yourself on watches.

Dapper Dan with a Gucci Tank-style watch. Nothing wrong with wearing a fashion brand when it comes to watches. The same goes for the customization of watches! We need to get over that stigma. Why watches can’t be customized? We customize everything else cars, clothing and homes. The trends always come from the streets.

Puerto Rican Jesus is one of my influences too. He was one of the earliest street guys wearing Jesus Piece pendants while rocking platinum jewelry pieces and a Rolex Datejust. I think Rolex is a great brand for marking a significant milestone in your life.

I’m a big fan of Pharrell’s contributions to horology and jewelry. From his references to watches in rap lyrics to the fact that he is one of the first rappers to wear color stones. Those Jacob & Co necklaces are 🔥. I love his Bape/BBC/Ice Cream era, it’s so loud. I kinda connect with that because I love wearing a big neck stack along with my watches. Photos: @zanegan
