Black Bay
The original Black Bay debuted in 2012 with a burgundy bezel. In 2016 it got an in-house movement. The version unveiled in 2023 goes a step further and is certified by METAS, the Swiss institute of metrology, for its compliance with some of the industry’s toughest standards of precision, magnetic-resistance, water-resistance and power reserve. This is the third Tudor watch to meet METAS requirements, a prelude to the brand’s plans for all its ranges to obtain METAS certification. This will imply making a substantial number of changes to the existing in-house movements, as is already the case for Calibre MT5602-U, which powers this new Black Bay. Robust, with a silicon balance spring and 70 hours of power reserve, it is COSC-certified and operates within a tolerance range of 5 seconds (0/+5) per day. Testing is on the assembled watch. Cased in steel with a 41mm diameter, this Black Bay can be worn on a steel bracelet or a rubber strap, both fitted with Tudor’s “T-fit” clasp for rapid adjustment in five positions.
