Classique Tourbillon Extra-Plat Anniversaire 5365
On June 26th 1801 in Paris, Abraham-Louis Breguet was awarded a patent for his tourbillon. Two hundred and twenty years later, Manufacture Breguet pays tribute to this invention with the Classique Tourbillon Extra-Plat Anniversaire 5365, a limited edition of 35 pieces: one for each of the tourbillon watches produced during Breguet’s lifetime. Engine-turning, or guillochage, has become a visual signature of the brand, and indeed the gold dial is embellished with different engine-turned patterns. Breaking with tradition, the tourbillon sits between 4 and 6 o’clock. Other unusual features are the choice of blued steel for the upper bridge and the cartouche with the inscription “Brevet N°157” in reference to the patent number. More inscriptions are hand-engraved on the movement back next to a reproduction of the original watercolour plate that Breguet filed with his patent application.
