The Franck Muller brand was born in 1991 from the association between a watchmaker and a watch case manufacturer driven by the same spirit of innovation. On the watchmaking side, it stands out for the creation of complicated, innovative and spectacular watches, hence the nickname Master of Complications. The Crazy Hours, presented in 2003, is certainly not the most complicated example, but doubtless the most striking. It made a powerful impression with a most disconcerting touch of madness. In terms of their exterior, Franck Muller watches are recognizable by their exclusive cases, starting with the Cintrée Curvex, which has been the star model since 1992.

The aptly named Crazy Hours is well worth a closer look. At first glance, one is naturally intrigued by the order, or rather disorder, of the hour numerals. The fact that these are swept over by apparently traditional hands adds another layer of mystery and confusion. It certainly surprised everyone when first introduced. Today, many people know that every 60 minutes the hours hand jumps to the desired number in one go, while the minutes hand continues to run normally. Nevertheless, it continues to work a certain magic when it comes to reading the time upside down. With a Crazy Hours, wearers enjoy the freedom of transcending established rules. By diverting the jumping hours mechanism, Franck Muller gave birth to an innovation that is spontaneously associated with its name and is most emblematic of its creativity.

Crazy Hours also owes its reputation to its design. It is mainly housed in the brand’s patented Curvex Cintrée case. It features a tonneau (barrel) shape totally curved in all three dimensions and which perfectly follows the contours of the wrist. Unprecedented. The neatly fitting profile of the crystal, dial and hands complements a fundamentally complex creation. Oversized baroque Arabic numerals, another brand signature, greatly contribute to the power of the watch. Among the Crazy Hours, the most famous is the Crazy Color Dreams, which highlights the concept with numbers in all different colors, emphasizing the fanciful nature of the function right from the start.

Nonetheless, each individual has their own preference and Crazy Hours caters to every taste, offering a choice of size, metal, decoration, and particularly colors, including particularly bold options for both dials and straps. Craziness knows no boundaries.
