Arnold & Son produces watches in the style of the English makers of the eighteenth century, with a classical inspiration matched by perfect command of complications. Here we have the brand’s signature off-centre dial, at 12 o’clock, showing hours and minutes. This configuration leaves the rest of the dial estate free for a three-dimensional orb, measuring 12mm in diameter, for the moon-phase indicator. Made from marble and aventurine, this is the largest three-dimensional moon ever incorporated into a wristwatch, completed by an indicator, on the back, for the age of the moon. Driven by the in-house, manual-winding A&S1021 calibre offering 90 hours of power reserve, this “astronomical” moon complication will require a single adjustment of one day every 122 years. Cased in a 44mm diameter in red gold surrounding an aventurine glass dial, the Luna Magna takes us on a journey to the stars.
