Themes: Technical, Classic
Specificities: Calendar, Striking Mechanism
The movement inside the Master Control Memovox Timer - derived from the original Memovox alarm watch from 1950 - is Jaeger-LeCoultre's Calibre 956. First released in 2008, it takes the original Memovox movement as its starting point while introducing several subtle modifications. Some of the most important updates concern the alarm mechanism, although the characteristic "school bell" sound is unchanged. Rather than being attached to the caseback, the gong is connected to the side of the case. The pink gold rotor is openworked, allowing a view of the hammer, and the entire mechanism is revealed through the sapphire back that replaces the closed back of the original. The alarm can be set conventionally to ring at a specified time or used as a timer to ring after a given number of hours. The alarm indicators are at the centre of a two-tone sunray blue dial. This steel-cased version with date display is a limited edition of 250 pieces.
