Odysseus Chronograph

In 2019, 25 years to the day since the first collection from the new-era A. Lange & Söhne, the Saxon watchmaker confounded expectations with the launch of the Odysseus: an elegant sports watch that was also its first in steel, driven by the L155.1 Datomatic date and day movement. Returning in titanium, another first for the brand, the Odysseus is back this year, in steel and housing Lange’s first automatic chronograph movement, L156.1. So as to retain a unity of style across the collection, the habitual chronograph counters are replaced by a lozenge-tipped chronograph minutes hand and a red chronograph seconds hand, both centrally mounted. This leaves the 3 and 9 o’clock positions free for the large date and day displays. When the zero-reset function is actuated, something entirely original takes place, with the seconds hand making rapid sweeps of the dial (one for every elapsed minute). Given the complexity of its mechanism, production of the Odysseus Chronograph is limited to 100 pieces.
