Rendez-Vous Dazzling Moon Lazura
The moon-phase display is perhaps the most poetic of watchmaking’s complications, celebrated here by Jaeger-LeCoultre with a Rendez-Vous whose blue lapis-lazuli dial sparkles with diamonds. Two rows of these precious stones frame the pink gold case, with 36 large diamonds in a prong setting forming the outer circle and an inner circle of 72 grain-set diamonds on the bezel. The lugs are also diamond-set. In the upper part of the dial, applied “floral” numerals mark the hours. They soar above an elliptical band of 68 diamonds which contains the area given over to the moon phases, crafted from mother-of-pearl, and to a representation of the night sky. This celestial chart depicts the brightest stars in each constellation by means of tiny polished gold hemispheres. Calibre 935 with automatic winding is exceptional for the precision of its moon-phase indication, which needs no adjustment for 972 years. Positioned at the edge of the dial, a small star is set by the second crown as a reminder of a special rendezvous.
