The Quirky Backstory Of The Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso That Wasn't A Reverso

No need to introduce the renowned and beloved Reverso to you.
Its classic appearance, Art Deco inspiration, and sliding case mechanism have made it one of the most iconic watches out there.
But by now, you know us — we like to introduce you to quirky and unusual watches.
The Jaeger-LeCoultre ref. 2726 is definitely one of them and holds many interesting details.
Although it was hard to find information on this watch, we found out that it was launched in 1949. This reference was made in commemoration of Jacques-David LeCoultre, who had passed away just one year prior.
Eighteen years after the first Reverso, this rather rare reference was made in small quantities and reserved for a selected clientele. Based on our research, this reference was only available in yellow gold and was, in fact, the first JLC offering a triple calendar complication!
Design-wise, the classy yet original structure gives it some distinctive style — a round dial in a square-shaped case, powered by a manual-winding caliber with squared edges but rounded corners. This watch packs a lot of style and elegance, but with enough quirkiness to make it interesting and worth a look.
