Dutch brothers Tim and Bart Grönefeld present their very first watch to be driven by an automatic calibre, which they have housed inside the classical forms of a 39.5mm case in steel, mounted on a python strap, with a silver turquoise dial circled by large hour markers and swept by flame-blued hands. This handsome exterior finds its match in the precision of the movement, a robust mechanism intended for daily wear. So as to offset the positional errors caused by the unwanted effects of gravity, the 1941 Principia is fitted with a free-sprung balance spring, which can be admired through the case's sapphire back. Beneath the red gold oscillating weight, which turns on a ceramic ball bearing, the spectacle of the mechanism in motion is there to see, to the delight of any connoisseur.
