The rose is Piaget's floral emblem, which it captures over and over using the different métiers d'art. Coming after last year's renditions in grand feu enamel on an engraved and guilloché base, and in micro-pointillism silk needlework outlined by silver threads, Piaget returns with equally refined techniques to embellish the dial of its Altiplano watch. They include wood and mother-of-pearl marquetry. Ninety-six petals are cut from maple, sycamore and mother-of-pearl using a marquetry saw, assembled then inlaid on the dial. All by the expert hands of Rose Saneuil, who trained in marquetry at the prestigious École Boulle.
