In a breathtaking show of technical skill and artistic judgement, Breguet has chosen to skeletonise the Calibre 581 movement in this ultra-thin tourbillon watch. Already, it took a wealth of inventive and ingenious solutions to produce a movement just 3mm high – including a complete rethinking of the tourbillon whose titanium carriage engages directly with the gear train. Now Breguet goes even further and carves away almost half the material of this exceptionally thin movement in white gold. The result is nothing short of astounding, starting with the decoration on what remains of the plate with a "Clous de Paris" hobnail pattern, using a diamond-tipped guillochage technique, a first at Breguet. Equally impressive are the sharp edges which have been patiently chamfered with a hand-file, and the different hand-engraved inscriptions. This exceptionally refined composition is set inside a fluted pink gold case topped with a narrow bezel. A box-type crystal accentuates the opening onto the lace-like intricacy of the movement.
