Cyrus Etheral Twin Orbital Tourbillon
2024 begins a new chapter for Cyrus Genève, an independent brand established in 2010 whose Manufacture, in Le Locle, Switzerland, is helmed by master watchmaker Jean-François Mojon. Six years in development, the Twin Orbital Tourbillon is the inaugural model in the Etheral collection. As the dial rotates, making one full revolution in 60 minutes, so do the jumping hours, minutes display and two flying tourbillons, yet by maintaining a horizontal position, the time remains perfectly legible. This mechanical choreography is made possible by the manual-winding CYR518-E movement whose 510 components include twin barrels for a 72-hour power reserve. Cyrus has filed three patents for the movement, which is contained inside a 44mm round case in rose gold whose 3D construction highlights the complexity of the movement. There are two crowns, a hallmark of the brand: the crown on the right is for winding and time-setting while the left-side crown adjusts the jumping hours in one-hour increments.
