DB28GS "JPS"
JPS for John Player Special: three letters in black and gold that instantly conjure up Team Lotus whose cars were widely considered as the most beautiful Formula 1 cars ever built. They were also the first single-seaters to take full advantage of the technological advances of the 1970s. This was all De Bethune needed to reinterpret its very first sports watch, the DB28GS, in a gold and black livery of steel, oxidised titanium and zirconium. Based on the observation that a sports watch must provide legibility in every possible situation, the DB2080 movement was developed in such a way as to light up the dial. Accordingly, a white light source is mechanically produced by a dynamo, activated on demand by a pusher at 6 o’clock, without affecting the functioning of the movement.
