Omega released its first central tourbillon wristwatch in 1994. Ten years later the mechanism was awarded chronometer certification. In 2020 the brand is presenting its first central tourbillon movement with Master Chronometer certification: a guarantee of the movement's precision as well as its capacity to function undeterred even when exposed to magnetic fields of up to 15,000 gauss. For the occasion, Omega has made the movement's mainplate and bridges from Sedna™ gold, a proprietary alloy that also serves for the bezel, the lugs and the caseback, which carries an indicator for the 72 hours of power reserve. The body of the 43mm case is crafted from Canopus™ gold, an alloy that displays particular whiteness and brilliance. Running seconds are displayed on the tourbillon, which completes its rotation in one minute. Its cage in black ceramized titanium has been finished with hand-polished bevels. This tourbillon sits majestically at the centre of the dial in black PVD-treated Sedna™ gold.
