Ulysse Nardin merges advanced technology, a sailboat inspiration, and innovative mechanics in a single watch. The dial is a genuine wood inlay that suggests the deck of a yacht. Above it, the unprecedented time display uses a hand representing a mainsail boom to show the minutes by sweeping a graduated strip. It is pulled by a wire held by four pulleys, like the winches that hoist sails. On reaching 60, the boom returns to zero in a leisurely three to four seconds, guided by a regulating mechanism. Jumping hours are shown in a double aperture at 12 o'clock. This patented system is driven by a second barrel. Small seconds are carried by the flying tourbillon, like a captain surveying the seas.
