J12 Gabrielle 3.1

This J12 Gabrielle Calibre 3.1 becomes a canvas for a portrait of Gabrielle Chanel, her silhouette depicted in enamel and set against the sapphire dial. The legendary couturière is instantly recognisable, in black and wearing her iconic string of pearls. Framing this likeness is a white gold bezel set with 46 baguette-cut diamonds. Following its debut in the J12 X-Ray, the in-house Calibre 3.1 proves it has nothing to hide with a mainplate, central minutes bridge and geartrain bridge in transparent sapphire. They allow light to pass through the mechanism and reveal its intricate workings, perfectly visible from the front and back of this 55-piece limited edition. The components are, at most, a millimetre “thick” and in certain cases a mere half a millimetre. Assembling Calibre 3.1 is a painstaking operation that requires the patience and dexterity of Chanel’s watchmakers for an entire week.
