This new version in titanium of the Laureato Absolute coincides with Girard-Perregaux’s 230th anniversary in 2021. A choice of grey or blue dial colours coordinates with the fabric-effect strap in an alloy of rubber and titanium. Why titanium? Because this metal was first identified by an English clergyman in black menachanite sand in 1791: the same year Girard-Perregaux was established. The grade 5 titanium of this watch’s 44mm case is lightly sandblasted, with the subtle contrast of polished facets, and surrounds a “sandwich” dial. For each of the two 230-piece limited editions, indications of hours, minutes and seconds are driven by the in-house GP03300-1060 movement.
