Non-classified, Tourbillon
Bulgari presents the Octo Roma Papillon with a central flying tourbillon, a rarely encountered complication. The “butterfly” (“papillon”) mechanism, which the Italian brand inherited from Daniel Roth, is unusual for the two independent and retractable diamond-shaped hands that show the minutes. Each runs in turn along a semi-circular display. When the first hand reaches the 55th minute, the other makes a gradual quarter-turn, to take up position at the 00-minute mark. The first hand then retracts for the next 55 minutes. Completing the time display is a jumping 24-hour indication in an aperture at 12 o’clock. Functions are driven by the BVL 332 in-house movement whose 60 hours of power reserve are shown on the back of the pink gold case.
