Premier Precious Weaving Automatic 36 mm

Ever since its launch in 1989, the Premier collection has been a showcase for the expertise of Harry Winston, and particularly in the métiers d'art. The dials on this model borrow a Japanese weaving technique in which gold threads are interlaced with slivers of natural mother-of-pearl, creating an incomparable tapestry. Inherited from the ancient Japanese art of raden, a means of inlaying mother-of-pearl in the surface of lacquered or wooden objects, this ornamental technique uses silk threads and wafer-thin layers of mother-of-pearl to produce a shimmering, supple fabric. This project, a first in watchmaking, took eighteen months of creative reflection and development. One of four designs, this model is inspired by a Koi fish motif whose scales are reproduced in silk, gold threads and fragments of mother-of-pearl.
