Sport Collection Caliber 9R 20th Anniversary

2024 sees the twentieth anniversary of the first Grand Seiko watch to run off Caliber 9R; the movement that powers every Grand Seiko Spring Drive watch. The brand marks the occasion with a GMT Spring Drive chronograph whose design looks to the Hotaka mountain range that rises close to the studio where every Spring Drive watch is made. The shifting colours of the dial are achieved using an innovative technology known as Optical Multilayer Coating, which employs a physical vapour deposition process. Multiple layers of nanoscale film create an effect that causes the colour of the dial to change, depending on the angle of view. The lion – Grand Seiko's symbol since its first watch in 1960 – is represented by the "lion's mane" dial pattern as well as the powerful angularity of the case. Rated water-resistant to 200 metres, this 700-piece limited edition is equipped with the GMT Spring Drive 9R96 chronograph calibre which is accurate to ±10 seconds/month or 0.5 second/day. Both the case and the bracelet are in high-intensity titanium.
