Panerai celebrates its role as official sponsor of the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli America's Cup team for the second consecutive edition with the release of two Submersible QuarantaQuattro Luna Rossa Ti-Ceramitech™ models. This high-performance material is derived from those found in competitive sailing and is used for the 44mm cases. After seven years of research and development, Panerai has filed a patent application for the titanium ceramisation process by electrolytic plasma oxidation that transforms the titanium alloy surface into a dense ceramic layer and achieves these watches' distinctive shade of blue. The result is a case that is 44% lighter than in steel yet has fracture toughness ten times higher than traditional ceramic. Both models are water-resistant to 500 metres and powered by calibre P.900, an automatic movement with proven reliability. Power reserve is three days. PAM01466 has a blue sun-brushed dial while PAM01543 comes with a white matte grained dial. Each dial is accented with a Luna Rossa transfer and red small seconds hands. Luminescent indices and hands are the guarantee of underwater legibility.
