Type 3X

Part of the X collection which marks the brand’s first ten years, the Type 3X is a collaboration between Ressence and graphic designer Stefan Sagmeister. As well as Ressence’s signature regulator-type time indication - plus subdials for the day, running seconds and temperature of the oil surrounding the in-house orbital display module – the Type 3X features an innovative date display in the form of a peripheral ring made up of 280 coloured lines: 140 blue and 140 orange. A superimposed grid means the wearer sees only one colour at a time. At midnight the colour switches from blue to orange or vice versa. One of the 140 lines is of the “opposite” colour – blue if the lines are orange, orange if the lines are blue - and it is this contrasting line, in its rotation around the dial in 30 days, that intuitively tells the user where in the month they are.
