Carrera Split-Seconds Chronograph
TAG Heuer’s Carrera line gets its first split-seconds chronograph complication. This milestone model is presented in a 42mm grade 5 titanium case with the Carrera’s signature peaked lugs. An integrated pusher at 9 o’clock activates the chronograph’s split-seconds function, with start/stop and reset pushers framing the crown. The Glassbox case sits above a minute track on the flange and a tachymeter scale, while the translucent sapphire dial shows off the mechanics below. Also in sapphire, the caseback offers a view of the TH81-01 movement, derived from the TH81-00 and developed with Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier. A frequency of 5 Hz enables the chronograph’s one-tenth of a second accuracy (with markings for one-fifths). Hand-finishing on the movement, which is wound by a shield-shaped rotor for 65 hours of power reserve, includes an engraved chequered flag pattern on the bridges.
