Ingenieur Automatic 40
IWC launched the Ingenieur in 1955 but it would be Gérald Genta, in the 1970s, who gave this watch its iconic design, setting out his artistic vision of a luxury sports watch in steel. The Ingenieur Automatic 40, introduced in 2023, retains these signature attributes while meeting the expectations of today’s watch buyers with regard to comfort, finish and technology. It features a case, bezel and integrated H-link bracelet with butterfly folding clasp in stainless steel, finished with polished and satin surfaces. The 40mm diameter and newly engineered middle-link attachment ensure excellent wearability for all wrist sizes. Five polygonal screws secure the round bezel to the casing ring. The Aqua dial is decorated with a “grid” pattern of perpendicular lines. Luminescent treatment on the rhodium-plated hands and applied markers ensures easy legibility. At work inside the case is the in-house 32111 calibre whose pawl winding system delivers 120 hours of power reserve. In keeping with the technical heritage of the Ingenieur, a soft-iron inner case shields the movement from magnetic fields.
