Santos-Dumont
Mineral meets precious for this Santos-Dumont watch in yellow gold with an obsidian dial. Sourced from Mexico, cut to a depth of barely 0.3 millimetres then polished, this volcanic stone reveals shimmering reflections that make every dial unique. Framed by a rectangular case in the historic 43.5 x 31.4mm dimensions (7.3mm in height), this iteration retains the signature elements of the Santos-Dumont that Cartier introduced in 1904: exposed screws, beaded crown set with a cabochon, a railroad minute track and Roman numerals swept by sword-shaped hands. Behind this elegantly understated exterior is a manual-winding mechanical movement, calibre 430 MC, whose slim proportions correspond to the model’s slender profile. Produced as a limited series, this Santos-Dumont with obsidian dial thus presents a tried-and-true mechanical movement, an exacting natural material and a precious metal case worn on a 15-row integrated mesh bracelet, inspired by the suppleness of the metal straps which Cartier made to measure in the 1920s.
