Though historically associated with the watch industry, micro-mechanics are not limited to the manufacturing of clocks and watches. They are also used in other areas such as medicine and aeronautics. The micromechanic manufactures tools used for industrial production of watch parts. A good micromechanic must be meticulous, precise and enjoy detailed manual work. Every stage in manufacturing or assembly-work must be carried out exactly as stipulated on technical documents, completing each stage in the prescribed order and using the proper tools.
Micromechanics can work in four areas: manufacturing of parts on CNC machines, precision-turning, stamping/moulding and manufacturing of prototypes.
