Resonance

共振 Resonance Résonance

Glossary

Thematic Complication, Regulation, Technic

This sophisticated technique, developed by Breguet and applied to wristwatches by François-Paul Journe, implies two fully independent movements: two mainsprings, two geartrains, two lever escapements and two balances. A rack and pinion adjusts the distance between the two balances (and their escapement).

Through such precise adjustment a position is found where, through the effect of resonance, the balances continually correct each other to maintain maximum precision.
