In 1830, Ferdinand A. Lange has his first encounter with the watch-making profession when starting an apprenticeship with the renowned master watchmaker, Johann Christian Friedrich Gutkaes. Together with his son, he went on to build a small business into a well-known and prosperous manufactory. The brand then establishes itself as emblematic of creativity and tradition. Worldwide, people instantly recognise his creations for their clean lines and superb workmanship.

1845

Ferdinand Adolph Lange founds a precision watch-making factory in Glashütte, close to Dresden, Germany.

1990

When the Berlin Wall falls in 1990, Walter Lange revives A. Lange & Söhne, a brand that he officially registers on 7 December of the same year.

1994

The Lange 1 watch, which marks a new departure in watch-making, is presented in Dresden and Glashütte.

2009

The Lange 1 offers a modern display of the time with one counter for the minutes, and another for the hour and earns its place in the pantheon of timeless pieces.
