Time Zones, Striking Mechanism
Patek Philippe presents a new grande complication watch with automatic winding. The Alarm Travel Time combines Patek's exclusive Travel Time system which displays two time zones by means of two central hour hands – one skeletonized and one full – with a 24-hour alarm mechanism striking a hammer on a classic gong. The alarm is set in 15-minute increments using the crown at 4 o'clock and the chosen time shown in a double aperture completed by a day/night indicator. For the second time zone, local time is set forwards or backwards in one-hour increments by the pusher at 8 o'clock or at 10 o'clock. There are also day/night indicators for the two time zones. The date display synchronises with local time. Housed inside a 42mm diameter, pilot-style case in platinum, the new, integrated movement assembles 574 components. Four patent applications have been filed for the alarm mechanism.
