Back in 1980, when Karl-Friedrich Scheufele was just starting out at Chopard, the now co-president of the brand imagined the St. Moritz. Forty years on, encouraged by his son, he presents the Alpine Eagle, a sport-luxe watch that explores the contemporary appeal of the 1980s model. Chopard has retained the assertive outline of the original, now cut from Lucent Steel A223. Twice-smelted and composed of 70% recycled steel, this proprietary alloy is hypoallergenic, significantly harder than regular steel for greater scratch-resistance and reflects more light. Eight visible screws around the bezel as well as the integrated bracelet also shout out to the original design. The remaining features are inspired by the majestic white-tailed eagle, from the dial texture to the seconds hand or the case finish. Both movements, one each for the men's and women's ranges, are COSC-certified and produced at Chopard's own Fleurier Ebauches facility.
