Arceau Toucan de Paradis

Two crafts combine on the dial of this Arceau Toucan de Paradis. First, the white gold dial plate is enamelled. Using a very fine brush, the enameller coats this base with successive layers of glass powders mixed with natural oils. Each layer is left to dry then fired in the kiln before the next is applied. Recesses are then engraved into the enameled surfaces for the silk threads. Hermès’s exclusive technique is inspired by the work of a kimono weaving studio in Japan. In a process that takes a week to complete, 500 silk threads are positioned one by one to create the toucan and its plumage. The colours of the threads and those of the enamel accentuate and complement each other. Eighty-two diamonds are set in the bezel of the 38mm white gold case. Hours and minutes are displayed by the in-house Hermès H1912 movement with automatic winding. This Arceau Toucan de Paradis is produced as a limited edition of 24 pieces.
