Astronomic Souveraine

F.P.Journe presented the prototype for the Astronomic Souveraine at the Only Watch 2019 charity auction. Now the brand has unveiled, in the current collection, a version in steel of this grande complication, for a total of 18 functions, that renews with the grand tradition of astronomical watches. In addition to a minute repeater, the movement in 18k pink gold incorporates civil time with a second time zone in a subdial at 3 o'clock and sidereal time in a subdial at 9 o'clock. Adjacent to these subdials are two discs, one showing moon phases and another for small seconds. At 6 o'clock, a power-reserve indication mirrors an aperture at 12 o'clock for sunrise and sunset. Minutes are shown by a central hand. On the reverse side, the equation of time and a full annual calendar are surrounded by the signs of the zodiac. Not forgetting a tourbillon with remontoir d'égalité. In total, the Astronomic Souveraine comprises no fewer than 758 components within a perfectly ergonomic case that measures 44mm in diameter and 13.80mm thick. Only five of this extraordinarily complex watch will be made each year.
