Cape Cod Zebra Pegasus

Engraving and grand feu enamel meet on the dial of the Cape Cod Zebra Pegasus. Proposed as four unique timepieces, the motif is taken from a Hermès silk scarf designed by Alice Shirley. A 22k gold plate is sculpted into three levels to create the first suggestion of perspective between the zebra and its wings. The feathers on the wings are then rendered in greater detail using a graver, and subsequently enamelled in the cloisonné technique. The zebra itself is portrayed with enamel miniature painting. The wealth of colour, and the play of light and depth are gradually revealed with each firing in the kiln until the winged zebra appears, resplendent in enamel and gold.
