Cartier imagined the Baignoire in 1906, a watch for women that made playful use of shapes and has continued to inspire no end of imaginative forms. In fact it is this desire to reinvent its uniquely shaped watches that is behind the Cartier Libre collection. Four fabulous interpretations of the Baignoire's oval were unveiled this year, with the evocative names of Baignoire Interdite, Baignoire Étoilée, Baignoire Infinie and Baignoire Débordante. The latter overflows (the "débordante" of its title) with creativity, uninhibited by the sheer extravagance of its volumes or the sparkle of its gems. Spotted with black spinels among white diamonds, this 50-piece limited edition in white gold is fitted with a quartz movement.
