Duometre Heliotourbillon Perpetual
Introduced by Jaeger-LeCoultre in 2007, the patented Duometre mechanism comprises two barrels and two separate gear trains, housed in a single calibre and linked to a single regulating organ. One gear train powers the time indications and the other drives all additional functions. By separating power supply this way, the Duometre mechanism guarantees an exceptionally high degree of operating accuracy. This concept is at the centre of Jaeger-LeCoultre's new releases for 2024, which include the Duometre Heliotourbillon Perpetual. Manufactured as a limited edition of 20, it is equipped with Calibre 388. This new movement features an original tourbillon, fitted with a cylindrical balance spring, that rotates on three axes to produce a "spinning top" effect. Supported on ceramic ball bearings to minimise friction, the tourbillon comprises 163 components and weighs less than 0.7 gram. Beating at 4 Hz or 28,800 vibrations/hour, Calibre 388 also drives a perpetual calendar, moon phases and a large date. A feature of the perpetual calendar is to show the last digit of a leap year in red. Hours and minutes can be adjusted backwards or forwards without affecting the perpetual calendar. Power reserve is 46 hours for each barrel. The Duometre Heliotourbillon Perpetual is cased in rose gold and measures 44mm in diameter.
