Grande Seconde Deadbeat

As Jaquet Droz reminds us, deadbeat seconds were at their peak in the eighteenth century. Rather than advancing in a linear fashion, the seconds hand makes one jump per second, allowing a more precise reading of time in an age when the chronograph wasn't even in its infancy. Jaquet Droz has rediscovered this long-forgotten complication in its Grande Seconde Deadbeat, whose dial has been reworked for the occasion. The seconds hand, positioned off-centre on the historic version, has been moved to the centre, while the retrograde date takes the place traditionally reserved for the seconds hand in this model. Beneath the dial beats a new calibre with silicon balance spring.
