Chanel's Mademoiselle Privé collection looks to the symbols that were part of Mademoiselle Chanel's private world and the objects she loved to have around her. It is also a showcase for the artistry and craftsmanship of Chanel's artisans. This year's chosen theme highlights an integral element in Gabrielle Chanel's couture: the button, with its multitude of ornamental designs. Accentuated by gold piping, the black tweed cuff of the Mademoiselle Privé Bouton watch folds over and fastens around the wrist with a button. Concealed underneath this button is a small dial, set with 142 diamonds. In addition to two High Jewellery renditions, the collection comprises five watches with, for the button, a sculpted gold lion, a diamond camellia, a Byzantine motif, an agate cameo of Gabrielle Chanel or an Australian white cultured pearl, circled by two yellow gold braids, the outermost set with 52 brilliant-cut diamonds.
