Masterlink
The latest evolution of the Maestro, designed by Gérald Genta, the Masterlink is the first Gérald Charles watch to be fitted with an integrated bracelet. This raised a particular challenge, as the bracelet links had to follow the asymmetrical shape of the case, mirroring the characteristic "smile" arc at 6 o'clock and becoming straighter to match the straight line at 12 o'clock. There are no visible attachments between the links; the construction is apparent only from the back. The bracelet fastens with an invisible butterfly clasp and includes a new system for adjusting to size. Water-resistant to 100 metres, the Masterlink features a screw-down crown: an additional difficulty given the slim 7.9mm case height. This new watch runs off an ultra-slim (2.67mm) GCA 5401 movement, developed by Vaucher Manufacture and visible through the sapphire back. Carefully finished and beating at 3 Hz, it supplies 50 hours of power reserve.
