MP-10 Tourbillon Weight Energy System
Five years in development, Hublot's MP-10 Tourbillon Weight Energy System ranks as a truly exceptional piece of horological engineering. For a watch to join the brand's MP (Manufacture Piece) collection, it must do more than reinvent existing complications; it must create something exclusive and, in the brand's own words, "open up new avenues in watchmaking". Indeed, this MP-10 revisits the fundamentals. It has no dial, hands or oscillating weight; instead, it has a roller display, a circular power reserve and an inclined tourbillon with automatic winding by two linear weights on a vertical axis. Taking the place of conventional hands are four constantly rotating displays. Hours and minutes are in the upper third of the dial, combined with an invisible magnifying glass. The circular power reserve takes up the central third while the seconds are in the lower third, directly on the tourbillon cage. Hublot has a patent pending for this suspended and inclined cage, which is built from monobloc aluminium. The titanium case incorporates sapphire crystals top and bottom; the crystal on the top side combines inclined planes on three axes and is Hublot's most complex to date. Production of the MP-10 Tourbillon Weight Energy System is limited to 50 pieces.
