Polo Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin
Recent years have seen a surge in interest in super-slim watches. One of extra-thin’s most accomplished practitioners, Piaget had so far focused its efforts on the Altiplano line. It’s now the turn of the sport-luxe Polo line to welcome a Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin watch. Cased in steel and water-resistant to 30 metres, this is the first time a perpetual calendar has featured in the Polo line. When Piaget launched its 12P calibre with micro-rotor in 1960, it was the thinnest movement ever made at 2.3mm high. Fifty years later, it was followed by the 1200P, a new generation of extra-thin movements. For the 1255P driving this Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin, Piaget has added a perpetual calendar and moon-phase mechanism, while keeping thickness to just four millimetres. This new Polo measures 8.65mm high in total and boasts a dark green dial with horizontal gadroons. While retaining the gadroons that have been part of the Piaget Polo signature since 1979 on the case, the aesthetic link between the new-gen Piaget Polo and its predecessors is reinforced by the reappearance of the gadroons on the bracelet. Other enhancements relate to a brand-new interchangeable SingleTouch system for the bracelet, as the model comes with a comfortable rubber strap alternative that easily yet securely diversifies the wearability options.
