Portugieser Hand-Wound Tourbillon Day & Night

From IWC's manufacture in Schaffhausen, the Portugieser Hand-Wound Tourbillon Day & Night combines a case in 18k Armor Gold® – a harder, more wear-resistant alloy than red gold – with a black Obsidian lacquered dial carrying gold-plated hands and gold appliques. At 6 o'clock, the flying minute tourbillon consists of 56 parts and weighs just 0.675 gram. The pallet lever and escape wheel in silicon are treated with a special diamond coating. This Diamond Shell® technology reduces friction which improves the flow of energy through the movement, contributing to the 84 hours of power reserve. Thanks to the integrated tourbillon stop, the mechanism can be brought to a complete halt and the watch set with down-to-the-second accuracy. Another notable feature is the innovative day/night display, in the form of a tiny globe rotating around its axis. It can be seen from both the front and back of the watch. Also visible through the sapphire case back is the manually-wound IWC-manufactured 81925 calibre, including its gold-plated main plate.
