RM 16-02 Automatic Extraflat
Richard Mille is no stranger to rectangular case shapes, having released the RM 16 in 2007. Eighteen years later, it gets a stablemate in the RM 16-02 whose CRMA9 movement is the fifteenth Richard Mille calibre. At 36 x 45.6 x 9.5mm, this new release is slightly smaller than its predecessor and comes as two versions, in titanium or Terracotta Quartz TPTĀ®. These new proportions suggest that Richard Mille is aiming the RM 16-02 at all genders, as confirmed by the ad campaign which, unusually for the brand, shows the watch being worn. Automatic winding accumulates 50 hours of power reserve for the movement, with hour and minute indications. Possibly its most distinctive feature, the 67 openings in the titanium baseplate, each chamfered, create a maze-like effect. The engraved sapphire crystal echoes this angular architecture, whose geometric shapes are accentuated by the oscillating weight on the reserve side.
