Royal Oak Selfwinding Carolina Bucci Limited Edition / 34 mm

Continuing celebrations of the Royal Oak’s fiftieth anniversary, Audemars Piguet presents a 34mm model in black ceramic with a limited run of 300 pieces. This is the brand’s third collaboration with jeweller Carolina Bucci, after two models showcasing Bucci’s signature beaten gold (“Frosted Gold”) technique. This time, however, Bucci has imagined a black dial which, on closer inspection and as the light changes, reveals an entire spectrum of colours to create a moving Tapisserie pattern. This effect is achieved by placing a sapphire plate, patterned with tiny squares made through micro-structuring, on top of the brass dial plate. Gold metallisation on the back of the sapphire plate creates a mirror effect and shines light onto the dial. Visible through the sapphire and titanium case back, Calibre 5800 drives indications of the hours, minutes, seconds and date.
