Serpenti Misteriosi

As well as creating ultra-thin calibres, Bulgari finds ways to make its movements as small as possible, and has put this expertise to use in four new Serpenti Misteriosi watches – thus named because these are secret watches. Pressing the snake’s tongue reveals the dial concealed inside its head. Round and paved with diamonds, the dial sits in an oval module that also contains the manually-wound BVL 100 calibre. This remarkably tiny movement measures 12.30mm in diameter for a height of 2.50mm and weighs a mere 1.30 grammes. Its 102 components have been miniaturized to the utmost degree. The barrel, for example, measures 5.00mm across by 1.47mm high, and still manages to contain a 170-mm long mainspring. The version shown here is executed in pink gold, set with brilliant-cut diamonds and turquoises on the case, and with diamonds and turquoise inserts on the double coil bracelet. The snake’s eyes are two pear-cut rubellites.
