In 2022 Omega introduced its most complicated movement to date, the Co-Axial 1932, developed in collaboration with Blancpain. This new calibre, which incorporates a split-seconds chronograph precise to 1/10th of a second and a minute repeater that sounds the time measured by the chronograph, equips two Omega watches. One, the Olympic 1932, takes visual cues from pocket watches while the other is a second-generation Speedmaster, namely the CK 2998 that became the first Omega watch in space. Cased in Sedna gold with a 45mm diameter, this Speedmaster Chrono Chime features a blue aventurine Grand Feu enamel dial as a backdrop for the small seconds and 15-minute counters, also in Sedna gold and decorated with an “acoustic waves” pattern. Elapsed time is displayed by the chronograph and chimed as three sequences on two hammers for the minutes, ten seconds and seconds. Omega has filed 17 patents for this watch.
