The first split-seconds chronograph derived from Patek Philippe's proprietary CHR 29-535 PS calibre, Reference 5370 debuted in 2015 with a platinum case and black enamel dial. A particular favourite among collectors, this complication returns in a new version, again with a platinum case but with the dial in a glossy blue, rendered in Grand Feu enamel on an 18k gold plate. Legibility is paramount for what is a technical instrument: a role fulfilled by the slender leaf-shaped hands with luminous inserts that sweep applied Breguet numerals in white gold. Short-time measurements are read with the same precision and speed thanks to the sweep chronograph and rattrapante hands, the instantaneous 30-minute counter hand in white gold and the white printed scales. The split-seconds pusher for the chronograph is set in the crown. As well as a traditional construction with a dual column wheel and horizontal clutch, the movement also carries seven patents.
